not exactly the 2.5TB of video/audio/image I was looking at storing on my own unit. The only thing the IT guy at WD did say to me to do, was that when I first attach the unit to my router was to make sure my router was disconnected from the net and then to go into the dashboard and to turn off twonky and auto FW updates. Besides the initial indexing, never seen any issues.

Below is what I do on my NAS: - Auto update off - A "Media" public folder use for all my music, videos. This is access via SMB by my AFTV - User folders for backing up files from 2 phones, 5 PC/tablets (not using Smartware at all though) - It is a headless torrent client using Transmission - I have LAN/WAN ssh user access I am happy with mine, and since the initial setup a few years ago, I have never touched it again.

I then asked him how many video, audio and photos he had on the unit, and he told me about 11 movies, 3 albums, and no photos.....

(I thought to myself, the perfect WD purchaser).... I have a MBL, older generation NAS and also played with Twonky on/off but not for use by Kodi.

Simply double-click the downloaded file to install it.

Update Star Free and Update Star Premium come with the same installer.

I do agree, it took me a 2-3 setups to finally come up with a final NAS setup (users, shares, access, etc) which I liked. I managed to find some useful info from the WD user guide,: Getting Started Without the Online Setup Installer If you do not use the online setup installer to get started, you can still:  Use your WD My Cloud personal cloud storage device as an external hard drive, dragging and dropping files to and from it.

These devices as most NAS devices, run some kind of Linux flavors, in my case, it is a Linux Lenny.  Configure the device using the WD My Cloud device’s dashboard.

(afaik, this Option is enabled by default) Regards Thomas but there is no possibility to disable Transcoding in the My Book Live or Twonky UI. Kind regards, Iba Hi Iba, try to open your WD on a PC, and check the file type here. my PC I can see the jpeg's in fullsize, just the TV show pictures like thumbnails Hi Guga and Fridge, thanks for your reply. I can open all photo's in full resolution, both on a PC with Windows 7 and a PC with XP.
